About the Scholarship
Heriot-Watt University welcomes students from all over the world. To support international students, it is awarding more than £500,000 in merit scholarships to fee-paying international applicants who start their studies in January or September 2027. The scholarship is open for applications now.

What You Receive
In most cases, the scholarship is paid as a partial fee abatement, which means a reduction in your tuition fees. It normally covers the first year of study only. Your offer letter will state if your award works differently. The amount depends on your region, so confirm your exact figure with your Regional Team Manager.
Who Can Apply
- International fee-paying students with overseas (non-EU) fee status
- Students applying for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme
- Students starting in January or September 2027
- Students who live outside the UK at the time of application
Important: Students who are currently living in the UK but have overseas fee status are not eligible for this scholarship. Eligibility criteria also vary by region, so check the requirements with your regional contact before applying.
Who Cannot Apply
- Students enrolling in online programmes
- Students applying for postgraduate research programmes
- Students already residing in the UK with overseas fee status
One Scholarship Only
You can receive only one Heriot-Watt-funded scholarship towards your programme. For example, you cannot combine this scholarship with the alumni discount.
