Website Call for Submissions: New Developments in AI for Social, Economic, and Policy Research Conference

Deadline: November 30, 2026

Submissions are invited for the New Developments in AI for Social, Economic, and Policy Research Conference 2027. Artificial intelligence is reshaping how work is organized, performed, valued, and governed. These changes extend beyond the adoption of new tools: they may alter the division of labor between people and machines, transform occupations and professional identities, reorganize workplaces and labor market practices, and create new opportunities and inequalities. The conference will examine the future arrangements of work in this broad sense.

They invite submissions presenting ongoing or completed research, policy analysis, or practice-based insights on AI and the future of work. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Labor-market change, including hiring, evaluation, career mobility, displacement, job creation, and emerging forms of employment
  • Changing occupations, career pathways, skill requirements, expertise, and professional identities
  • AI and inequalities by race, gender, class, immigration status, disability, age, and geography
  • Human–AI collaboration, the division of labor, and the augmentation or substitution of tasks
  • Organizational design, management practices, and algorithmic coordination or control
  • Job quality, worker autonomy, workplace surveillance, compensation, working conditions, and well-being
  • Worker opinion, unions, social protection, education and training, and approaches to governing AI at work

Benefits

  • Accepted papers will be presented during either a paper session or a dedicated poster session, providing opportunities for discussion, feedback, and networking among academic researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, and others working on AI and the future of work.

Eligibility

  • They welcome submissions from academic researchers at all career stages, industry practitioners, and policymakers.
  • They welcome perspectives from sociology, economics, political science, public policy, management, labor studies, computer science, and related fields, as well as experience from organizations developing, implementing, regulating, or responding to AI at work.

Application

Submission deadline is November 30, 2026, Monday, EST 11:59 PM.
