The Bernard F. and Melissa Anne Bailey Family Fund Scholarship was established in 2005 through a generous $3.3 million bequest from Bernard F. Bailey, a lifelong Midland resident. Managed by the MyMichigan Health Foundation, the fund aims to support students pursuing careers in healthcare, honoring the Baileys’ appreciation for medical professionals and their contributions to the community.  Eligibility Criteria

• Residency: Applicants must be residents of one of the following Michigan counties: Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, or Midland.

• Field of Study: Open to students pursuing degrees in various healthcare professions, including nursing, pharmacy, social work, physical therapy, medical laboratory technology, physician assistant, and more.

• Academic Level: Available to both undergraduate and graduate students.

 Scholarship Details

• Award Amount: Varies annually; for the 2025–2026 academic year, over $194,000 was distributed among 99 recipients.

• Number of Awards: Approximately 99 scholarships were awarded for the 2025–2026 academic year.
