Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and produce photopolymer flexo plates from approved artwork and files
Operate plate-making equipment (exposure unit, washout unit, dryer, and light finishing)
Check plate thickness, relief depth, and image quality before sending to press
Mount plates accurately on sleeves or cylinders, ensuring correct registration
Maintain plate-making chemicals, solvents, and equipment, and follow daily cleaning routines
Coordinate with the prepress, design, and printing teams to resolve plate-related issues
Keep records of plates, jobs, and stock, and store plates properly
Follow safety and quality standards in the plate room
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in flexo plate making, preferably in flexible packaging (BOPP, PET, PE, laminates).
Knowledge of photopolymer plates, exposure and washout times, and plate curing
Understanding of dot gain, screen ruling, and registration
Ability to read job specifications and artwork files
Basic knowledge of plate mounting is a plus
Attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
Diploma or Matric or above (printing or packaging background preferred)
