Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the MIF Fellowship 2027, candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

• Must be a non Japanese national
• Must hold a Ph.D. degree at the time of application
• Must be 49 years of age or younger
• Must have a valid invitation letter from a recognized Japanese host institution
• Must demonstrate proficiency in English or Japanese
• Must not have previously lived or worked in Japan
• Must be currently employed in their home country and commit to returning upon fellowship completion
• Research focus must fall within natural sciences, engineering, or medicine
