Host Countries

This scholarship is offered in various Commonwealth countries, including but not limited to:

  • Fiji

  • Mauritius

  • Papua New Guinea

  • South Africa

  • Sri Lanka

These countries host participating universities where scholars can pursue their studies.


Degree Levels

  • The scholarship supports Master’s degree programs.

  • It is designed to help outstanding students from eligible countries undertake postgraduate study.


Financial Coverage

The QECS is a fully funded scholarship, and the support includes:

  1. Full Tuition Fees
    All tuition fees for the duration of the Master’s program at the host university are covered.

  2. Living Expenses
    A monthly stipend is provided to cover accommodation, food, local transportation, and other daily costs.

  3. Airfare
    The scholarship covers the cost of a return airfare ticket between the scholar’s home country and the host country.

  4. Research Grants
    Additional funds are available to support research related activities during the course of study, such as materials, conference travel, or other academic costs related to the program.

  5. Other Support
    Some scholarships may also include allowances for medical insurance, visa fees, or settlement costs, depending on the host country’s policies.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of low and middle income Commonwealth countries. These countries are identified based on the World Bank’s income classifications.

  • Academic Qualifications: Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification that enables them to undertake a Master’s degree program.

  • Age & Experience: Typically, candidates should be recent graduates or early career professionals demonstrating potential for leadership and impact in their home country.

  • Commitment to Development: Applicants must show a strong commitment to applying their knowledge and skills to contribute to the social or economic development of their home country upon graduation.

  • English Proficiency: Since programs are taught in English, applicants may need to demonstrate proficiency through recognized language tests such as IELTS or TOEFL if required by the host university.


Application Process

  • Application Submission: Applicants apply directly through the scholarship application portal or the host country’s scholarship authority.

  • Supporting Documents: Typically, the application requires:

    • Academic transcripts and certificates

    • Proof of nationality

    • Personal statement outlining career goals and motivation for study

    • References or letters of recommendation

    • English language test results (if applicable)

    • Research proposal or study plan (if required)

  • Selection Process: Applications are reviewed by a selection panel in each host country. The panel assesses candidates on academic merit, leadership potential, and commitment to community or national development.

  • Deadlines vary depending on the host country and university. It’s important to check the specific deadline relevant to the country where you intend to study.
