The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellowship is a prestigious 5 week academic and cultural exchange program in the United States, funded entirely by the U.S. Department of State.
It brings together young leaders from across Southeast Asia to develop leadership skills, explore U.S. institutions, and build long-term global networks.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
To qualify for YSEALI Academic Fellowship, you must:

Be a citizen and resident of one of the following countries:
-
Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam

Age: Between 18 and 25 years old at the time of application.

Student or recent graduate of a college, university, or technical institution.

Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).

Demonstrate leadership potential and community involvement (volunteering, student groups, NGOs, etc.)

Not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Committed to returning home after the program to contribute to your community or country.
Areas of Study (You Will Be Placed Into One Track)
Each fellow joins one of three academic institute themes:

Civic Engagement

Community development, leadership, volunteerism, civil society, advocacy.

Climate change, sustainability, conservation, green energy, environmental policy.

Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development

Entrepreneurship, business for social impact, innovation, small business development.
