Project Overview

Funded under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through a cooperative agreement with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, KeHMIS III supports the Kenya Ministry of Health and county governments to implement technological innovations in health information systems. These innovations include the development and scale up of electronic medical records (EMR) systems for clinical decision support and improved patient care, the development of the Kenya National Data Warehouse (NDW), a centralized data repository of information from EMRs for analysis and reporting, the development of an interoperability layer to support the exchange of information across systems, and numerous other innovations including patient identification using smart cards, informatics solutions to support health surveillance, and mHealth solutions to support data collection at the community level.

Position Summary

The Intern-Digital Health role will involve supporting duties related to digital health initiatives in Kenya towards accelerating the realization of universal health coverage.

The position is based in Palladium’s KeHMIS office, in Nairobi.

Reporting And Supervision

The Intern – Digital Health will report to the Process Excellence and Delivery Lead.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder meetings and workshops on digital health. Ensure seamless collaboration between the program team and other stakeholders.
  • Support in undertaking design, documentation and report writing activities for routine activities and meetings.
  • Support project management activities by attending meetings/calls and participate in planning and implementation.
  • Establish, build, and maintain key internal and external relationships, including cross-functional teams, and partners to inform the plans and support the execution/implementation.
  • Create a strategy that optimizes our product offering for the evolving healthcare environment needs.
  • Accountable for the overall delivery of the Digital Health Technology support service in the MOH.
  • Support in undertaking data analysis and secondary research to inform program strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed graduation public health, Health Policy, Health Informatics, or related field (applicants pursuing or having completed a master’s degree will have an advantage).
  • Previous experience in program coordination, research support, or project administration, preferably within the healthcare sector is an added advantage.
  • Basic understanding of digital components and the healthcare digital ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective reports and presentations.
  • Comfort working on both group and individual assignments.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively is an added advantage.
