This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing hemodialysis, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the treatment process. The candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough pre- and post-dialysis assessments, preparing and operating dialysis equipment, and collaborating closely with medical staff to deliver effective renal care. Attention to detail and adherence to clinical protocols are essential to support patient outcomes and maintain high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct pre-dialysis assessments including measurement of weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration rate, and relevant investigations.
– Prepare the hemodialysis machine by priming the dialyzer with saline or heparinized solution to ensure readiness for treatment.
– Set up and operate the hemodialysis machine, assembling the dialyzer and tubing for patient use.
– Connect the hemodialysis machine to the patient’s catheter site to initiate blood circulation through the dialyzer.
– Perform AV fistula pricks after 10-15 supervised and successful attempts, demonstrating proficiency in vascular access.
– Carry out post-dialysis assessments, including monitoring weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiration rate to evaluate patient status.
– Assist in the preparation of dialysis solutions as part of the treatment process.
– Work collaboratively with nurses, technicians, and doctors to ensure seamless delivery of dialysis care.
Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) with completion of a 6-month house job training.
– Proficiency in MS Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
